The Bolingbrook Arts Museum is full of great opportunities to learn and to be part of our team. Our volunteers often provide an important point of contact with our visitors, and help with the essential part of our mission to spark creativity in others. Docent

Experience the excitement that comes from hosting school groups and other tours. Make new friends with people who have similar interests, and become part of a new great institution in our community. Most of all, inspire multiple generations by helping visitors make discoveries and gain insight into a variety of art forms.

Commitment: The Docent training program is in the development process. Be one of the first to help form the program for future Docents. If interested, please complete this form.

Requirements: No experience is necessary – just enthusiasm for learning about art and an eagerness to share your passion.

Docents need to be able to move around the Museum comfortably for 1 hour at a time, have access to email and a computer, and have a love of sharing your enthusiasm with museum visitors.

Volunteer Coordinator

Love to organize and make things happen? We need you! Our Volunteer Coordinator will work directly with museum staff to help make things happen! You will help find and recruit our team of volunteers to present a vibrant program of activities for our community. If interested, please apply through this online form.

Commitment: The Volunteer Coordinator role in 6-12 months.

Requirements:

· Knowledgeable and comfortable working with Google Suite programs such as Google Forms, Sheets, and Docs
· Comfortable with approaching and/or being approached by groups and individuals from all backgrounds.
· Ability to interact with all visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
· Flexibility and willingness to assist in a variety of roles and adapt to change.
· 18 or older.

Gallery Greeter/Guide

Experience the excitement of enhancing the museum experience for all visitors by providing a welcoming and friendly environment for visitors and helping people have a quality museum experience. The Gallery Greeter/Guide greets visitors to the museum and actively provides Museum information to visitors, addresses their inquiries, orients them to gallery exhibits and Museum rules, assists staff with some Museum programs and evaluation activities, assesses general condition of the galleries - all to raise the level of engagement in the galleries and heighten the visitor’s experience at the Museum. Commitment: The Gallery Greeter/Guide training program is under development. Be one of the first to help form the program for future Gallery Greeters/Guides. If interested, please complete this form.

Event/Project Volunteer

Events bring visitors together at the museum. An Events/Projects Volunteer provides essential support to Museum staff at a series of public programs and events (lectures, VIP events, performances, etc). The Events/Projects Volunteer supports event set-up and break-down, guest check-in, distribution of program materials, participant ushering and guidance, and helps to provide answers about the Museum. These volunteers provide assistance to the Museum staff with projects connected to education, exhibitions, visitor services and visitor experience. Shift lengths will vary, but will typically be 2-4 hours and will be in the afternoons, evenings, and on weekends. If interested, please apply through this online form.

Commitment: Event dependent. We are currently developing our events calendar. You will be notified when the events sign-up sheet is available and then select events as appropriate.

· Ability to spend 2-4 hour shifts on their feet (with time for breaks).

· Ability to interact with all visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
· Flexibility and willingness to assist in a variety of roles and adapt to change.
· 18 or older.

Art Teacher/Instructor

The position of BAM Art Instructor involves bringing art instruction and museum-quality artwork directly to school-age children. Through this program, professional art educators will deliver interactive lessons tailored to grade-level standards, teaching students about a variety of art forms, techniques, and cultural themes. To complement these lessons, we will transport and display curated artwork to the classroom, offering students the rare opportunity to experience professional art pieces first-hand. Additionally, students will participate in hands-on workshops where they can create their own artwork, inspired by the lessons and exhibits, fostering creativity and self-expression. Class size will be 10 - 15 students. Age groups either <12 years old or 13+.

A stipend is included in the position. BAM will purchase supplies per the instructors request. The result of the class instruction will be an art piece that the students can take home with them.

Commitment: Currently, we are offering 3 classes per teacher. Classes will either be in the evenings/weekends at the Museum or during the day at local schools. You will be contacted on your availability, teaching experience, and artform area of expertise.

Requirements:

· Visual Artist with experience teaching school age students in lecture and in hands-on art projects.
· 18 or older.
