John Havemann Artist Statement

Art has been a part of my life since childhood, a constant source of curiosity, comfort, and connection. As a realism artist, I work in several mediums including acrylic painting, printmaking, pencil, and soft pastel. I am drawn to still life compositions that reveal the beauty in everyday objects, capturing the play of light, texture, and reflection in photo-realistic detail.

I especially enjoy exploring challenging subjects such as chrome, fabric, and textured surfaces. Each piece gives me the chance to grow as an artist and deepen my appreciation for the craft.

Sharing art is just as meaningful to me as creating it. I have taught children of all ages and adults, and I have also worked with organizations that help Veterans cope with post traumatic stress through fine arts.

For me, art is both expression and empathy, a way to connect with others and reflect the quiet beauty found in the world around us.
