Artist and Teacher: David Bonchick

David will be teaching a fun, free, art class during the museum’s
Boo! @ BAM event on Saturday, November 1, 2025. The class is structured for students aged 7-13.

There will be three offerings of this class: 10am, 11:30am, and 1pm.
(LIMITED AVAILABILITY. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.)

What will students learn:

Students will learn and explore one of the following artworks:

Mickey & Minnie Forever, James Coleman
Oil painting on metal. Hand-signed in pigment lower left by the artist. Titled and signed on the verso. A unique work.

The Child (baby Yoda), James Coleman
Mixed media with original silver, copper and gold leaf on canvas.  Hand-signed in pigment lower left by the artist.  Signed and titled on the verso.  A unique work.

Students will learn basic fundamentals of drawing, including shapes and shadow, using acrylic paints. Their art project can be taken home to finish and display!

Message from David Bonchick

I’m a graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. I have my BFA in Painting and printmaking practices. I have experience as an art teacher and a professional artist. I’m great with kids and parents alike and find passion in teaching anyone how to use art as a lifelong tool to better themselves and their community.
